How it works · Step 1 of 7

Hear it

Press Play (or Space). You're hearing the starter song, "Solar Ripple". Everything here can be changed.

Can You Ferry is a sketch pad: find an 8-bar idea you love, then lay it out as a song.

Make a melody

On the Melody tab, pick a Feel and press Generate melody (G). It writes chords, arp, bass and drums to match.

Same chords gives you a new melody over the chords you already have.

Change how it plays

Pick a Style, or press Randomise (R) to hear it played another way. The Sound tab changes the synth.

Change the chords

The chords drive the track: Arp and Bass play them, so change a chord and they change with it.

Click a chord under Chords to swap it for one that fits, or ask for New chords for your loop or the whole song.

Edit the notes

Click the grid to add a note. Click a note, then use the buttons above the grid: ▲ ▼ move it to the next note in the key, Longer and Shorter change its length. The arrow keys do the same.

On a phone, Notes opens a full-screen editor with big buttons. Tap the track's name next to it to go back.

Undo (Ctrl+Z) takes anything back.

Lay out the song

Switch to Song to see every track in 8-bar blocks (full screen, on a phone). Press Arrange my loop for an instant intro, build, breakdown and drop, with risers, a filter sweep and a crash on the FX track.

Click a block to work on it: Generate, New chords, Mute and Delete then act on just those bars. Double-click (or hold, on a phone) to edit its notes, drag to copy it.

Take it with you

Export MIDI downloads every part, or drag a track's MIDI button straight into your DAW.
